Wiki: Three Ways to Use This Site

Use public portals, learning wikis, and action pages differently depending on your goal

How to use this page

Read this first to avoid getting lost

This page is a companion guide that explains three ways to use Mind-Upload as a whole: getting the big picture, learning from the basics, and actually fixing or participating. Public pages act as information portals, the wiki acts as a learning foundation, and Issues and Collaborations act as action entry points.

  • We'll organize the different purposes of using public pages, wikis, and Issues/Collaborations in one page.
  • You can reduce confusion by deciding in advance which mode you are in: 'Reading', 'Learning', or 'Revising'.
  • The route is determined based on purpose rather than time, so it's easy to use no matter how many times you come back.
Best for
People who are unsure how to use this site and when to switch between orientation, learning, and participation
Reading time
8-12 minutes
Accuracy note
This page is about how to use the site. For any specific claim or technical condition, always return to the relevant page itself.

Relatively clear at this stage

What we know now

  • Public pages are effective as information portals that allow you to quickly get an overall picture.
  • If you put the explanations for learning from the beginning on a wiki, the entrance page will be easier to read.
  • Corrections and contributions should be posted to action pages such as Issues and Collaborations.

Still unresolved beyond this point

What we still do not know

  • Which mode is the shortest way to enter depends on the reader's prerequisite knowledge and purpose.
  • Future expansions may add more auxiliary pages for each mode.

Learn the basics

Check the basics in the wiki

What the wiki is for

The wiki is a learning aid. For the project's official current synthesis, success criteria, and operating rules, always return to the public pages.

First, decide what you want to do now

This site is not intended for reading everything from the beginning. If you first decide do you want to get the big picture, learn from the basics, or do you want to actually fix, you'll have a pretty clear idea of which pages to use.

3 ways to use

Mode What to do First page to open
Getting the big picture Quickly figure out what's known, what's unresolved, and where to read next. index / Verification
Learn from the beginning Learn terminology, background, how to read a page, and the strength of evidence in order. Wiki Home
Actually fixing/participating Determine the issue, integration destination, separation of external dependencies, and minimum deliverables. Issue / Content Hub / Collaborations

1. Mode to grasp the big picture

At times like this First page to read Where to go next
I want to know the core policy of the site Verification Roadmap
I want to start with a short introduction WBE 101 / EEG 101 FAQ / Glossary
Confused by the differences between public pages Public page reading guide index / Verification

2. Learning mode from beginners

At times like this Read first wiki Next public page
I don't know what WBE is talking about WBE basics WBE 101
I don't know how to read the flashy claims How to read claims and evidence Verification
I'm confused because there are so many pages on this site Wiki Home index

3. Actual fix/participation mode

At times like this First page to read View with auxiliary wiki
I want to make small corrections Issue How to write your first issue
Not sure where to put new information Content Hub Basics of deciding where to place new information
I want to organize stories that include external dependencies Collaborations In-house production and external dependencies
When you are unsure which artifact to return what you have read

If you want to see in a straight line how to return to literature organization, theory organization, proposal, issue, and external dependence, please see Flow of connecting what you read to change.

Guidelines for switching modes

Current status Switch to Reason
Read the big picture but stop at the terminology Learning mode It's easier to misread the main text if you go back to the wiki and supplement the assumptions.
After reading the wiki, I can see what I want to fix Participation mode Put it into an issue or Content Hub to turn it into actionable changes.
I tried to write an issue, but I don't know what the premise is Learn mode or big picture mode Go back to Verification or the wiki and align the conditions and terms first.

Common ways to get lost

Mistake

  • Read everything from the beginning: It's easier to get lost if you choose one mode first.
  • Continue with just the wiki: Since the wiki is for learning purposes, you will eventually need to return to the public pages and issues.
  • Write a big proposal all of a sudden in participatory mode: It's safer to start with small revisions and minimum deliverables.
  • Read public pages as a textbook: Public pages are a place to get the gist and direction.

Where to return next

Use the Start Page to get back to the big picture, the Wiki Home to get back to learning, or the Contribution Guide and Public Content Integration Hub to get started.
